The Schützenpanzer 67/89 was a Swiss Army modernization of the M113 armored personnel carrier. Upgraded from the earlier Schützenpanzer 63/73, it featured improved armor protection, enhanced mobility, and other survivability modifications. Its most distinctive feature was a 20 mm autocannon turret, providing considerably greater firepower than the standard machine-gun-armed M113. The vehicle transported infantry while providing armored mobility and direct-fire support, serving as an important component of Switzerland’s mechanized forces until replaced by newer armored vehicles.
